Unread postby emd645e3 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 3:03 pm

Hey guys,

So I decided to make a thread here so I will not clutter the forums with previews of upcoming sounds. Feel like this is a better move seeing there will be a lot of upcoming items in the next couple months.

But here is a sneak peek at what we have in store for you guy's next. !!*ok*!!

Hope you all enjoyed. Keep a eye out here and on our Facebook to be up to date on any of our projects.

SD70ACe/M-2 sound set. Sounds great, looking forward to it. Are a number of the sounds dynamic?

The sounds are correct, but the sound quality isn't all that great. You can definitely make higher resolution recordings.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but I too have an interest in creating sounds for the game. My question is, how do you take hi-fidelity recordings (44.1kz, 16bit, Stereo or above) and keep from losing quality when converting to 16-bit Mono? It just doesn't sound as well after the conversion, and from my understanding, if you try to used stereo on a freight car or locomotive, the sound will not respond to the Curve changes in AC bluprint. RIght or wrong?

It's honestly best to have all interior sounds be stereo as they typically sound better and feel more immersive...not a huge fan of mono exterior sounds being used in the cab and just being muffled. It's always best to have separate interior and exterior sounds.

Cool story bro

Unfortunately, Railworks only takes mono sound files.

Not true. The developer docs states that ambient sounds can be stereo, and I have mistakenly used stereo sounds before on static assets such as crossing signals. As wss said though, they do not repond well to attenuation like mono sounds do.

I have plugged in stereo cab sounds (such as cab instrument noises) and they work perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with it. Mono files are best for the exterior.

Both stereo and mono files work, however only mono files support pitch change when moving past the observer.
