Has anyone tried aliasing the Durango & Silverton 2-8-2 sounds to Cecil Kerr's 2-8-0? If so, would you share how you did it with the community?

His engine sounds (Cecil Kerr's) are all aliased to the default Black 5 engine.
I do a lot of steam sound mods if you care to know some things. Most of the sounds can be changed to any engine you have in your inventory by editing the engine bin file to point to the engine sound you want to use. You can change just the whistle or the chuffs or the entire engine sounds. Right now I have the D&S using the chuffs from the PRR K4. I did this in a different way. Copied all the chuffs from the K4 sound folder to the \G-TraX\DSNG\Audio\RailVehicles\Steam\K27 folder. The names would be K4_CH_C1T1_Hi.dav, K4_CH_C1T1_Lo.dav etc etc. Open the K27_AudioControl.proxyxml and edit it to use these sounds. Replace C1T1_Hi.dav with K4_CH_C1T1_Hi.dav, and right on down the line till they all are changed to use the ones from the K4. Save the K27_AudioControl.proxyxml and drag it onto the serz.exe which will make a new K27_AudioControl.proxybin.
I probably could have explained this easier but it's really not all that hard to do.

Okay, I was able to successfully alias the whistle sounds for the 2-8-0 (K4) and the 4-4-0 (D&S). However, the Black5 has separate .bin files for the "engine" and "chuff" sounds. I can copy, paste, and rename the K4 "chuff" sounds but not sure how to alias to the .bin file.
Thanks for your help Xdriver. You are an artist and a gentleman.

Did you ever get the K27 sounds replaced with the Black 5 sounds? I'd like to know how to do that. Thanks for any help.

Back up your BZ_K27 bin file and then try this one. You need to make sure you have the Railsimulator main folder ticked so the Black5 is active.

Thanks. I replaced the file, made sure Black 5 was available, cleared cache, but get no chuff. I do get a whistle.

Let me look at it. The whistle is a separate item I think. I didn't test this.

Sorry, if your humble servant could read I would have gotten this right the first time.

Try this.

Tested this time.

Now that's just awesome. Thanks very much. Perhaps you'll consider putting this in the library? This is going to make the K27 so much more fun.
I'm hoping other gurus, or perhaps even you yourself, will create some freight cars to go along with the K27.
I've wondered why narrow gauge is/was so prevalent with TrainZ but has never taken off with Railworks. I'm guessing it's much harder to develop engines for Railworks?
