Can Parts Be Added To Railworks Engines? (IE FA Similiar to MSTS)

OK... Seems like the right place to ask this.

I bought the DTM D&RGW GP35. Overall nice looking engine expect for one key item if you're a big D&RGW fan like myself. I asked the same question on another forum and have received no feed back in a weeks times.

The DTM D&RGW GP35 has no snow plow on the front. A key item on a D&RGW engine. Can I make a plow and then somehow add it to the engine. In MSTS it would be a freight animation. Can I do something similar within Railworks???

Thanks.

Yes and no.

You can add child parts, however in many cases you cannot remove parts. So you could add a snow plow child from Britkits but you could not remove the existing plow on the model. Assuming we are talking about a DTG model.

In this case I would have to make the plow with Sketchup. Now, I might same time if I can find a suitable plow on a 3D Warehouse engine. I have no intensions of publishing the reworked model, so using a 3D Warehouse item should not create a conflict that would concern people. (IE EULAS and other legal stuff.)

A word of advice. Since there is no direct export to TS using Sketchup look to using Blender, or 3D Crafter, or 3D Max which do. This will remove a lot of head ache. With Blender and Max you get the added benefit of shadow baking.

Sure OK, but I was not talking about the legality of it all. Since DTG compiles their LUA and protects there GEO files you cannot modify them to remove the original plow. The result will be that people will see two plows after you add yours.

It's not a DTG model. It's made by DTM (Unless they are one in the same) and it has no plow thus this is why I need to add a plow. I know I'll need Blender. Design in Sketchup and then export to Blender and prep it so it will hopefully work in RW.

Kman, DTM is releasing an update patch (v 1.5) for the DRGW GP35 to include a snowplow. Pics are already up on their facebook page.

FANTASTIC!!! Will the patch be free to those who purchased the model, or will it cost money??? Not being picky, retired on limited income so I need to sorta plot and plan.

P.S. Could you post the link about the update please??? I can't seem to find it, but I'm not even sure I'm looking at the correct Facebook thread.....Thanks!!!!!

Yes, the updates are free. The link on T&D gets updated to the new patch, and Martin or somebody from DTM usually posts the updater link here or on T&D.
