After a long near-three year hiatus creating models for MSTS, I decided after months of scouring the net for different projects to start over and get my feet wet with a new TS2015 equipment project; a Pacific Car & Foundry Economy Class Baggage Car. These were built by PCF in 1962 according to the drawing I did manage to find somewhere. These were used on various passenger and mail trains on the SP, CRIP and other Midwest/Western Railroads during the 1960's to the Amtrak Era. Several of them have survived to roam the shortline railroads. For myself though, this style of baggage car is personal, as the Yolo Shortline Railroad of Woodland, CA (1990-2003) converted one into a concession and beverage car on their excursion train. The car itself miraculously (though for how long is anybody's guess as of recently (the past week) it was moved from one storage site to another, tentatively temporary storage spur) survives.
I will do most of the body work in Google Sketchup and then convert it to Blender or 3DC and merge it with the trucks and coupler mechanisms.
Here's a few minutes worth of body work done today.
