So do I, so do I. I will probably end up buying this pack whenever there is another half-price sale. I don't know if they make any profit on those sales but at least it creates cash flow which can keep the lights on. If I had an unlimited budget, or if I didn't feel like I'm getting a lot invested in game software (something I've never done before), I would be easier to please. Honestly, I still see all of this virtual model railroading to be w-a-y-y-y less expensive than its real counterpart ($300 for an H-8!). And easier, too!
I think what irks me is when I see a purposeful, planned plot to get a few extra $$$ out of me through some "scheme". In my experience, when I have priced my own retail products, I price them based on value, completely independent of other comparisons (the same way we should value people). It helps prevent customers from feeling tricked, instead usually feeling like they found a true bargain when they discovered something that seemed underpriced. No matter how "sale crazy" the consumer, they hate it when the thing they bought last week goes on sale this week. Building a dependable, long-standing clientele requires a sizable dose of honesty and caring. Something I learned from a persnickety old jeweler.
But, in today's marketplace, I realize (but have not accepted!) that sort of thinking has gone by the wayside. The world Sale is so overused it now usually means that is the price the item
should have been in the first place). Business today seems too based purely on $$$ with little to no room left for ethics and morality. It has become a pond full of Piranha which is why I got out of the business world altogether. There is no room left for the "nice little shopkeeper". Now I'm resigned to being an "armchair consumer advocate".

A relic from another time and place, I guess.
This is why I am
very reluctant to build payware routes even though I am being encouraged to do so. I just don't want the hassle and fallout from making simple mistakes (like a couple of RW content vendors are dealing with right now). In freeware, if I goof something up, what can anyone say... "You did a bad job."?!?! Guess what... it's not a JOB!
