Mojave Desert Railroading

This is the "Trona, Mojave, Barstow, Cajon, San Bernadino Route" . I spent most of this weekend working this route pretty hard and I'm going to build some scenarios for it, but, it needs something - some help.
1) The yards and several other areas really need a scenery update. I downloaded this from Ottos site, but who really "owns" this route so I can ask proper permission to make maybe a new version that has been "refreshed"?
2) What is the "line in the sand" decision point about what scenery belongs in the route itself, versus what should go in a scenarios? For example, should static cars be placed in the route, or in the scenario? I'm just looking for some general guidelines.
I mean, I could just build scenarios, but, the route really needs some polish and detail that I might can add here and there to make it look more "realistic". Or, do you thing this is too much?
If all this works as in my vision, all would be released here at RA only.

A certain Bill Putnam, IIRC.
Here it the thread about the route:
http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?310042-Bill-Putnam-s-Barstow-Mojave-Cajon-San-Bernardino-West-Colton-Route.
I have it still available on some old install, converted to ScaleRail. The Ottodad had too much influence over the outcome, but if you can live with that, you can drive trains though the desert for hours.
A pity the extension from Mojave via Tehachapi to Bakerfield was never completed. But then perhaps the game couldn't cope with such a large network.bin?
Haven't heard from Hack's plans to build this part either so I guess that project is dead.

If you put stationary scenery into any route via the scenario it becomes part of the route.

Only for that scenario.

Wait a minute Boss Man, you mean to tell me if you put a house or a tree on the route in a scenario when you go to another scenario the house or tree isn't there anymore?

This was my understanding too.... Hence my question about where to draw the line from a route builder versus scenario builder point of view.....

The way that I understood it was that only if the object has the "valid in scenarios" marked as true in the blueprint. Most scenery objects that I've seen do not, and thus would become part of the route. Easy enough to find out either way, however.

To the larger question is Bill Putnam still around the scene or not?

As I'm a newcomer here, I'd like to find out. Elsewise, I will be making some mods for my own use......

I suppose you still have to switch from the scenario editor to the route editor for that to work?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. I do all my scenery building in a scenario with the world editor ticked. It becomes a permanent part of the route.

Oh boy, I love resurrecting dead threads.
The answer my friends is that the object itself determines whether it will show up in the scenario or not. (someone basically said that already)
I've tried placing objects in the scenario editor and had them show up in the route (I think I hit World Editor then) and I've also placed persons which only showed up in the scenario.
I haven't done that for awhile, but if I remember correctly, basically, if you stay in the scenario editor and don't move to the World Editor, the only things that should show up for placement will be the scenario capable items. That's usually limited to vehicles and figures.
Trees buildings and other assets are usually route items. Some assets are partially scenario oriented. Some grasses on Donner Pass for instance, won't show up during certain seasons like winter, which is a scenario selected item.
So if you only want items for a scenario, don't hit "World Editor" or "Route Editor" at any time.

Amen! I once made a scenario on Sherman Hill as a "What if the Pioneer came back?" and ended up making a little depot at Borie complete with a building, car park, and extra railroad crossing with a walk-over. Only appeared in that scenario and nowhere else.
