Hi all,

How do I make the SD40s that come with clinchfield SS comaptible? (Or any loco for that matter) The default sounds are terrible.

Is it easy to do

Thanks

Jamie

You can edit the sound scripts to reference as many files from searchlight sound packs that you own for various things (engine sound, switch and lever noises, etc). It's by no means a perfect science but it can be a nice quality of life improvement.

I wouldn't say its difficult but you have to have at least a basic understanding of lua to change up where the sound scripts are looking and expecting the sound files to be located for various things.

John, I've never tried this but can't you just do it by aliasing it to the SS one by changing the Audio engine sound file? Do something similar to what Jersey Central Railfan did with the F* and GP series?

Wouldn't it be simpler to do a Clinchfield repaint of the SS SD40 ?

SS hasn't released any SD40s, just SD40-2s.

I just think it would be great because someone made the clinchfield GP38-2 SS compatible.
