I was hoping someone like Buzz Baxter would add to his beautiful repaints of the Feather River EMD F7 and F9 the iconic New York Central "lightning bolt/chevrons paint scheme. At least one with another paint scheme already exists but we need engines to match the recent NYC heavy weight passenger car repaints. Many thanks to Buzz and other that take on this sort of thing. Wish I could do it.

Funny you should mention that. I just started collecting some pictures of the "lightning bolt." Stand by and I'll post some pictures of the model as I go.

Outstanding!!! Just what I was hoping for. Keep up the great work. I trust you are repainting on the recent F7/9 created for the Feather River route and the California Zephyr in other liveries. They are more thoroughly detailed than the older collection from Michael Stephan or Kuju. One superficial difference is the air horn cluster on top of the cab vs. the single pair originally used. Thanks so much for updating this classic.

The F7 pictures has the original A200 pictured. You have to go to the FP7 or F9 to get the horn clusters whatever they were. The FP7 has dual headlights so it's not a good model to use for the NYC F7.

I'm sure you are right. I have not seen any NYC F series with two headlights although I did see a photo in the New York Central Headlight Magazine announcing a major buy (April, 1951) showing a F series under construction with 2 lights.
http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/head ... t-0451.pdf As you may know, this magazine series is a great historical resource on the NYC.

Making good progress on this. I'm planning on watch the PGA this afternoon so that gives me plenty of time to work on a model.

On New York Central engines, all F units had a200 horns. Also all E units had a200's except for the e8's which got early rs3l's. Almost every New York Central engine ever made had a dual a200 (including a lot of geeps and alco engines) set in opposing directions or an early rs3l (gp40, alco c430, e8, among others).

Looking good.
NYC's lightning bolt livery is one of the most beautiful and striking ever.
It looked specially good on the Baldwin RF16.
