Child objects on the britkits 4-8-2?

I don't think that would even be possible. So much would have to be "removed" from the Britkits 4-8-2 before you can start adding child objects. Biggest hurdles are the air compressors and the Belpaire firebox.

When MSTS 2 was announced by Kuju this artwork was released. http://www.cyruslum.com/artwork.html The M1 has to be around somewhere.

I'm afraid not, the MSTS Pennsylvania Railroad Eastern Region group tracked down the author of that M1 and asked him if he'd be willing to convert his PRR MSTS2 Models for the original MSTS. He told them that because the models were contracted to Microsoft, he would not and could not release them himself. Those MSTS2 PRR models will not see the light of day unless someone were to acquire the rights from Microsoft somehow, assuming MS even still has them...

Micro soft could not give a rats whatever about what's done with these models. All we need is somebody smart enough to do the conversion into a freeware model.

Since Kuju was the developer of MSTS and MSTS2 the model most likely is already railworks compatible. Funny thing is the original railworks is actually MSTS2. They couldn't release anything that was developed while under the Microsoft flag but it's essentially MSTS2. Even with that said you're correct in that it will never see the virtual light of day. It's unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be the market for steam engines in the USA as there is in Europe. (sarcasm). There has been a lot of historic steam models released for content over the pond. Now I sound like a give me pig.

there is a serious demand for american steam. the only trouble is the difficulty to find blueprints for american steam. DTG Would probly do it but our machines are so much larger and more complex. it takes mike around 2 years for his models. but that is just one guy. Would love to see DTG Do it, but i can understand why they don't.

I wonder if the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has any documents? I know they have the only remaining M-1 left in existence.

It takes a minimum of 6 months of dedicated work to do a decent steam locomotive for RW. Take it from someone who modeled steam for MSTS. The reason is all the complexity is out there visible, it's not hidden behind louvered doors like today's locomotives.
