CSX SD40E3

Unread postby CSX5202 » Fri May 12, 2017 7:34 pm

Recently, CSX has had a few SD40-2's rebuilt into what is essentially SD33 Eco's. Though, CSX classifies them as SD40E3. Is anybody interested in it? I've attached several pictures for references.

Does this look any different than a regular SD40-2?

Essentially, a new model and shape file are required.

That makes it considerably more than a repaint ....

Or just repaint it on the UP SD45 for the most part. *!rolleyes!*

...which would leave a lot to be desired. Sometimes you can get away with that sort of thing but in this case with all of the exceptions in the designs of the sd40e3 versus a true sd45 it would be more of a CSX sd45 than a CSX sd40e3. You need someone with child object experience to take this on and even then they could only do so much but it would be hella closer in that case.

Maybe DTG could do this in the future or a private developer like RRMods.

Looks like it might be possible to get CLOSE to the prototype if you build child objects just slightly larger so they fit around the default, but I don't have dimensions to verify that. I would do it, but I lost my modeling program because I was using a student edition from school and it was for 2016. If I understood blender, I would. But this is just an idea for anyone capable of modeling.
That being said, if someone knows how to model well in a program but doesn't know how to import to the game, I can get the models in game and on the engine if needed.

I like your saying. It reminds me of this one. "The trouble with a one track mind is its narrow gauge and lack of switching facilities."
