I bet RSC will mess it up as usual (why aren't my posts showing up?)

Here's a bigger hint:

"We also expect members of the RS.com team, as they are professional guests, will be treated with the utmost courtesy and that any venting or outburst against members of the RS.com team or company will not be tolerated, just as we ask the same for member to member interaction. "

There is a fine line between legitimate complaints and flat out trashing. You sir have done a lot of the latter. Try constructive criticism......not destructive criticism.

Just trying to help you out brother. *!!wink!!*

That makes sense, and i can see why now, although I still believe when people make mistakes such as certain routes though that they should be named and shamed, I too was disappointed about the Donner Pass route and annoyed when it was released unfinished. Surely though if someone makes shoddy work they should be named and shamed? I accept that RSC are finally making the decision to fix it and am grateful for it but should it have been like this when it was first made?

Edit - I'd just like to apologise for my previous posts where they were extreme and certainly shouldn't have been posted in such context, i can see that now but i'm sure there are others with equal frustrations with the route though?

That's much better!

Many people are upset at some of the things the Railworks team have done. Releasing Donner Pass in the state it was is one of them. Should it have been released? No. Do I know why it was released in this state? No. I can only guess based on what a lot of software companies have done over the last 20 years. When a company's cash flow is low or in the case of shareholder owned company....a financial quarter is coming to an end, releasing new content is a quick fix. Kinda like when your water heater dies on you and you need a new one, but you don't have the funds. So you put it on your credit card NOW and worry about how you are gonna pay for it LATER.

I'm guessing the Railworks team has some cash flow issues (especially in this economic down turn) and releasing Donner Pass was a quick fix. Then they pay the bill later so to speak by fixing it later. Lots of software companies are notorious for this. They concentrate on new features and looks that not only get YOU to upgrade, but to lure more new customers away from the competition. Then they quietly fix the bugs and issues over time while introducing new bugs with the new batch of features.

The one slime ball move some software companies stoop to is taking out a feature that nobody asked to be taken out. Then people complain and they put it back in the next version and basically say "back by popular demand" or worse.... using it as a new feature bullet point on the box to try and sell it to new customers.

So the bottom line is that if you aren't happy with a software company, vote with your wallet. Let them know in a respectful way that if they continue a pattern of practices you don't like, that you will no longer buy anymore of their stuff. They get the message and it's up to them whether or not they want to keep your business bad enough to attempt to change their practices. It really is that simple. !!howdy!!

I wouldn't be surprised though but again though I still believe that the individuals rather than the company should be named and shamed for the route (afterall they are the ones being paid for it), then again I'm shocked that companies can get away with releasing things with obvious bugs though?

As for the Wallet part - don't worry I won't be buying anything more from RSC after the latest route that has been released and lets just say poor quality of that route, anyone else such as Just Trains or Digital traction will most likely be a yes to purchasing straight away. I think RSC need to prove themselves with a good launch of TS2013 and of course actually fixing the route that they had promised to do a year ago! The problem is though there will always be plenty of muppets ready to purchase the content even if it's full of bugs (I mean look at Call of Duty or Battlefield for examples!)

They have said they are working on fixing it.
Frustration is understandable. Patience is necessary. You've said your piece. You've made your point. We understand. You are not the only one frustrated and disappointed.

I can wait. My opinion I hated the route from the begining. The scenery looked bleached and all around I was disapointed.

Well, they do take their time, don't they? So it better be good the second time around.

Hopefully once Sherman Hill is released and no major errors were found RSC will have time to release the updated Donner Pass.

What's this "year" thing? I could swear Donner was released barely 6-months ago...

Don't remember the exact date, but it was right around Thanksgiving. I remember telling my son about it over dinner.

You are correct - my mistake - the release date indicates Nov 24th, 2011.

Although the update is long overdue, it's still not a year, however.
Cheers!
