Unread postby gtw5812 » Wed Nov 06, 2013 6:01 pm

I am not computer "savy"

How is this one boys??

4th gen i7 processor, 8 GB of memory, 1TB of harddrive and Nvidia GTX 760 graphics
the processor runs at 3.9 GHZ..while the dedicated graphics card has 1.5GB

It is Alienware?

Thanks!

Is this a desktop or a lap top?
I've never heard of a GTX760 with 1.5GB VRAM usually 2/3GB - unless there is a new variant.

IMHO Alienware is very pricey but good quality - if you don't have a i7 47xxK variant overclocking is out.

It should "eat" TS2014!!

If it's a desktop with dedicated GTX760 in one of the PCI-E slots then it will do a very good job of running this sim.

If it's a laptop.... the only way to find out is to try. !*don-know!*

Yes, It is a desktop, with a 23 inch monitor, and Logiteck 5.1 surround sound...

Now that's a nice system, Galen. pH is right, it should "eat" TS2014 for lunch!

BTW that 1.5 gig of V-RAM is probably because it's an OEM version of the GTX 760

Eric
Tx - I hadn't realised that it was an OEM card
That makes sense.

Not gonna say the stuttering will end, but a nice system can minimize it for sure. some of the stutter comes from the sim loading the next scenery tiles, and when you hit a lot of AI trains, etc, so some of that is down to the hard drive. It's just the nature of TS.

What I usually tell folks is, don't upgrade just for this sim, upgrade because it's time. Hope it has Win 7 64 bit to use that 8Gb of RAM. BTW, Dell bought alienware, so yes, it pretty much is an alienware, especially with those specs. Ain't your typical office PC for sure.
