Only one bad thing about backing up to a dvd/cd. When files are written to a CD/DVD they are labled as READ ONLY. So when you copy them back over you can not edit them unless you change them to READ and WRITE. Just keep that in mind if you have to restore from DVD. Other than that, you should be OK.

Mind if i make a better suggestion? Why put it on DVD if you can put it on external harddrive? I got a 32gb and i got most of rw backed up. I did backups with win xp and that was worst choice i ever made. Also dvd 's doesn't hold for a very long time for your files.

How do I put it on the external drive? I right clicked the Route folder properties said Read Only. So if I put it on the E drive how do I do this. Or if I put it on a DVD how do I make it say Read Only. If I needed to replace the Route again.Btw Route is coming along great. Thanks for the 3 replies all.

UPS
Just right click on the folder and choose "COPY" or select the folder and use CTRL + C then go to your Destination Drive in this case "E" and choose paste or CTRL+V. This is useful: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/wind ... move-files
The attributes of the folder are unimportant for copying and pasting and like BOB says you can re-set the attributes any time.
I use a small app (originally for Vista) called 'take ownership' and it resets the attributes automatically with a right click on a file or folder.
This is a post for win 8: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/28 ... s-8-a.html
CSX2057 is correct a USB thumb drive is the best option much more user friendly, faster and more durable than a DVD. Many PC's these days do not have a DVD drive as you can use an external USB drive for most things.
