Windows.old folder

Been exploring my hard drives. My SSD is getting full and I wanted to delete some stuff to open it up more. I found a folder called Windows.old with 20 gig sitting in it. The system will not let me delete it. I get a message that either SYSTEM will not allow it or the TRUSTEDINSTALLER will not allow it. I was able to rename the folder so I know or assume it is not required after rebooting several times.
Any ideas on what I can do here? I have Windows 10.

If you ever updated windows. windows.old has all of the old files that were on the old hard drive. but if its just 20 gigs. i wouldn't think that's the case.

I figured it out with help from Google. The files are in case you want to revert back to your original windows.

you can get rid of them through Disk Cleanup, you'll need to check the admin option Clean up system files though.
My W10 box got such a windows.old folder when I updated it to build 1703 yesterday.
