why not battery for PC

I did a search for this on the internet but didn't find an easy answer.

We use laptops with batteries, and a good laptop has all the capability of a good PC, in terms of driving the motherboard, the hard drives, the graphics cards, etc.

So why do non-laptop computers use power supplies instead? Seems like a power supply is more expensive than a battery.

My brain just froze and I had to reboot it.

Laptops don't use batteries instead of power supplies.
They use batteries in addition to power supplies.
The power supply is the black brick you plug in the wall outlet.

PCs don't have that because they are not supposed to be mobile.

It adds cost because you do have a power supply for a laptop. It's the charger.
A desktop isn't meant to be moved either, and laptops and other battery equipped devices tend to throttle the CPU to save power, even when doing a high load task.
