Very true, it also removes certain settings to default - all my cookies were gone (good thing maybe) and all compatibility view settings in IE11 were removed.

There's really not much for us plebs in this upgrade, I don't see any improvements in running TS, RAM and cpu usage are about the same as before the upgrade.
The start menu has been improved (maybe) and you can now give a colour to some of the (inactive) taskbars - whoopee!
If virtual desktops are your thing then this update des it for you.
If you find win 10 too bright - there is a new dark theme - I applied that and couldn't find my monitor in the dark.
If you tinker a lot with your PC (like Buzz) then reactivation is supposedly easier.
Edge has been updated and now with Cortana becomes a shopper's paradise.
With the right hardware you can now sign in with a finger print or your face - Biometrics! Its even hangover proof!
INK has been re-written - never used it!
Cortana gets smarter - is that an oxymoron?
Closer ties between your PC and your smart phone.
Groove is here - replace media player?
Connect connects better
Xbox one and the PC come closer- TSUE4 on both?
Action center actually has some action!
The taskbar calendar is now a calendar - it wasn't before!
There are new emoji but don't rival the ones found her -
Battery Saver is here.

Just a few of the delights in store for you when you install the upgrade.

Mine only took 15min.
Nothing major to report though.

I thought I'd like the dark theme, like the Ambiance theme in Linux, but it's not the same. Very high contrasts were messing with my eyes so I went back to the original theme.
the dark theme doesn't apply to all open pages and apps anyways.

They put back their marketing crap. Things like "Get Office"

They've removed the old sticky notes and replaced them with a new app that makes extra large ones...

The DL on ADL2+ took 2+ hours and the update around an hour - there were 3/4 restarts in that time.
If its updated you should see (via winver) Version 1607, Build 14393.10.
Yours may have been shorter, as I recall its fairly recently you moved over to win 10??
Mine were all "old" builds so may have needed more time?

Actually mine kept crashing at first. I finally figured out that the Background Inteligent Transfer Service was stopped.
Strangely enough the error code had nothing to do with the BITS being stopped. In Windows 7 the error code would have told me specifically what was wrong.
Thanks to having past experiences with that, I figured out where to start looking.
That also explained why I apparently had no updates since installing 10.
I think it was a leftover registry entry from 7 when I did manual updates.

I originally did the upgrade which is fine, as long as a person spends the time to round up Win 10 specific drivers and programs afterwords to speed things up.

Mine only took about 15 min to download the files for the Anniversary udate and about another 10 to 15min to actually install it.
That's not including wasted time to set myself back up the way I want.

Just to make note, I'm on a 50MB LAN connection that usually runs at 60 +.
