I'm not looking for a miracle here but my machine is getting pretty old and i'd like to upgrade some bits.
So what i would like to know is what would be the best parts to upgrade?
I mostly use the computer for general internet use, TS2015, and 3DCrafter.
My current spec is,
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2
CPU-AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4GHz
RAM-4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)
Graphics-VA2016w-2 (1680x1050@60Hz)
1024MB GeForce GT 120 (MSI)
Hard Drive-466GB Seagate ST350062 0AS SCSI Disk Device (RAID)

First off have you been offered the free update to Windows10? Vista is much less nimble that win7 or 10. By all means the thing you can do to improve performance next is update the video card. Look for something with 2 gigs of ram if possible.

Unfortunately i don't get the free offer with vista.
Windows 7 was the oldest they offered the upgrade to.
I might see if i can find a copy of 7 somewhere going cheap and update from there.
Are there any brands or models of video card that work better than others or do i just look for any with 2 gig?

If I was going cheap with those specs, I'd go with a Overclock on the CPU to 3ghz and a GTX 960.
Maybe a new CPU cooler to go with the overclock?

You can get a GTX 960 for less than $200 Buzz and that's less than 200lbs british.
If you shop a bit online, a person can get GTX 960s for $180 - 200.

Yip we still use the pound here.
My budget isn't set in stone (unless my wife asks ) so i've also been looking at upgrading the cpu now too, plus power and cooling.
I'll have a shop around and look for a GTX960.
No doubt more questions to follow.

I have a 760 in my rig and it runs the game smooth as silk. $150 at Amazon. Sorry about the confusion on my part. Just read right by the pound sign.

Definitely go with Windows 7 or 10, since its a 64bit system the 4gb ram I would seriously consider going at least 8gb. The MSI card is going to be weak, TS2016 and most other games really hit the graphics card. See what you can do, most important though, ditch Vista, up the graphics card.

After starting to price things and seeing the limitations of my current set up I think i'm just going to build my own new computer.
From your suggestions I have a good idea what i'm looking for but no doubt i'll have another thread started soon just to see what more knowledgeable people think.
