Anybody experienced issues with latest MAJOR Windows 10 build update?

This was the biggest Windows 10 update since the O/S debuted. Took about 1 1/2 hours to install. Everything runs fairly OK most of the time, but I've encountered issues and of a different variety than before the update. I've on rare occasions in the past had my Nvidia driver crash (the Win 10 notification center flyout tells me this) and the driver then relaunches itself to immediately fix the problem without the need of a computer reboot.

But after the update, I've had my Intel graphics driver crash a few times and relaunch itself. This particular driver had never crashed before the new update.

Then tonight I had my taskbar slowly lockup and then my desktop itself. My clock was frozen in time, the desktop icons were un-selectable as was the Start menu. But...my 4K video downloader program continued to download a video and the app's window remained movable and fully functional. I had to restart the computer by selecting it using Control-Alt-Delete to access the option. It's running okay now as I type.

Anybody else noticed any new issues since the update? !*don-know!*

Do us all a favor, click search and type winver and press enter, then post what it says (build, etc.) Just so we know which one we are talking about...

It''s Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36). Keep in mind that number reflects that I got another new Windows update last night since the big update. So it may or may not have improved things. I haven't had issues since the locked desktop/taskbar incident, but I haven't used my computer a ton in the last 2 days either. We'll just have to see over time if it's gone or if it will remain a random intermittent issue.

EDIT: The Intel graphics driver just crashed and relaunched after 30 minutes of using Google maps and street view. So I'm still vulnerable after the latest update. *!sad!*

To get back to the original question, the only difference I've noticed is that Win 10 seems to boot up a bit more quickly -- not counting, that is, the need to enter a password. So, sorry to disappoint, but ...

I have Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36). I did not get a huge update. I got a few small ones that took less than 2 minutes to install. I am at the Desktop in less than 20 seconds from pressing the power switch. Win 10 is on an SSD.

The only thing that is strange for me is using the PASTE function from the right click menu does not work. I have to CONTROL V to paste.

If you have not got the latest release of Windows 10, released in November through Windows update, like me, you can download it using Media Creation Tool. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software ... /windows10

I started getting a random lockup while watching YouTube videos. This started about a week ago and I had to hold down the power button on my laptop for a hard shutdown cuz ctrl-alt-delete wouldn't even do anything. This was NOT a BSOD.

Then yesterday when launching Sony Vegas 13, it would load and as soon as I click on for starting a new project... BAM!! ... a BSOD kernel security check failure. It did this every time I launched it.

On the other hand my Cyberlink PowerDirector 14 Ultra still ran and rendered just fine.

I looked up fixes and the first step told me to launch some hidden windows tool that checks and tests drivers. I choose the option that tests all the drivers as the website suggested. The tool said it would need to be done at boot up. So I decided to also schedule a disk repair as well.

I reboot and the disk repair got first dibs. It was doing it's thing just fine for a long while. Now I don't know if it happened after or during the disk repair.... or if it got to the driver test and it happened there.... but a BSOD occurred. It then rebooted and eventually stopped loading to tell me it can't load windows. It then gave me an option to RESTORE. I'm assuming from an earlier restore point. I said yes and after a long while of working, it reboots and I'm back on the desktop just fine.

Then I eventually go to launch PowerDirector 14 and as soon as I put a clip on the timeline.... a BSOD kernel security check failure. So now BOTH my video editors are not usable due to this particular BSOD. Prior to this week I'd never had a BSOD on this 1 year old laptop and very rarely would it crash or lockup. Now all of a sudden I'm getting hammered by both problems.

I've scanned the Windows 10 forums on the net and BSOD has become a much larger issue since that large Windows 10 fall update was issued. I've also read that the latest Nvidia drivers are a big culprit of the most recent BSOD occurrences for many people. This sucks! I hope an older driver fixes this for me. Can't verify it but word has it that Nvidia is aware of this and working on a fix. **!!bang!!**

I've been having YouTube vids lock up on me in recent months and in my case it turned out to be the microsoft installed audio driver.
Keep in mind I'm on Windows 7 still.
That being said, I reinstalled the Realtek Driver and all was fine. The sounds in game and on the PC itself run fine with the the generic driver supplied by Windows 7 but the YouTube vids lock up.
I had discovered this when I uninstalled my Realtek driver to diagnose a problem with the audio from my gaming mouse. Uninstalling the Realtek driver fixed the mouse audio and everything but YouTube was working fine afterword.
The only theory I have, is that something to do with HTML5 playback relies on something in the actual Realtek driver and it's codecs.

Tom is wrong. There is photographic evidence from all over our solar system, proving the sky falls on heavenly bodies in a frequent and scary manor.

Then, you, too, can start complaining about having major issues (no minors allowed) with the latest Win10 upgrade! Don't miss this opportunity for greatness!! !*cheers*!

I rolled back my Nvidia driver to the previous version (v359.06 released on 12-1-2015) and now both Sony Vegas 13 and PowerDirector 14 seem to run OK as of this moment. Hope it stays that way! (knock on wood!!!)

I know I have both of those video editors set to use the CUDA cores for GPU rendering acceleration and that accessing the graphics drivers is causing them to BSOD I'm guessing. So I suggest people not update their drivers beyond v359.06 until Nvidia has it worked out and the flood of BSOD reports hitting the forums subsides.

Well you are the only one on the planet from reading forums and my own experience.

Count me as #2. Other than the Railworks 2-D map issue, I've upgraded to every new Nvidia graphics driver and Geforce Experience as soon as they were released and in the nearly 13 months of owning this laptop, I've never had problems at all until this latest v361.43 came out. I guess we're two of the luckiest people on the planet. *!greengrin!*
