The obvious things first:

- remove completely, then reinstall, your video drivers. You may need to search for how to remove completely.
- create a 3D profile for Railworks, or modify the default one, so that 3D options are optimized for it. Mostly leave almost everything to the application. See mrennie's post here in this forum about 3D settings, I think it is in his thread about building a steam engine.
- also change your video options in-game following mrennie's recommendations.

OK, i will have another look thanks.

I have just had the Evga Precision running during the game until it did it, the GPU temp started at 59C and within 1 minute during the game had gone to 71C in the red, does anyone know if this is normal, i am just wondering if i have a faulty GPU maybe?

There may be a problem with your GPU fan.
I think 76 C isn't horrible, but at that temp your fan should be going at more than 50%.
Try changing the fan option, if possible, to minimum temp / maximum noise.
Also is this GPU overclocked? Maybe it is OC'd too much.

Thanks again for reply.

I don't know what overclocking is sorry, so i assume not, i only got it late last week.

I will try change the settings

Possible but not sure. Could be a driver problem, heat problem, etc.
Try what I suggested, and if possible borrow a different video card and try that too.

Just a week old?

Did you assemble it yourself? Read the manual and double check each picture against your computer's innards. Make sure it is clean and free of lint and dust.

Make sure all power and fan cables are properly connected, and all fans are spinning. Your video card also needs power cables and there might be small fan cable connectors that have come loose under a shield or heat sink. Use a torch to look into every corner.

Close the case and check in the BIOS screen under power options or likewise to see if there are r.p.m. readings of the fans, besides CPU and motherboard temperature.

Do you have monitoring software that allows online read out of fan r.p.m, also from the video card while playing a game?

Yes installed it myself.

I will have a look tomorrow at the fan, the numbers for in running are on one of my posts above, i think it says doc 2.

I am determined to find out why it just goes to the pause menu during the game.

many Thanks

OK, in EVGA Precision Tool, take fan control off of "Auto" then manually set fan speed as high as you can. Personally, I like the MSI Afterburner tool. Precision tends to put the fan back on Auto on reboot. The 550Ti should be able to run at 100% (my GTX670 will only do 80% but that's fine) Max temp on the GTX 550Ti is 100c so you are not even near shutdown temp. I also set Precision to start when windows starts.

Use Driver Cleaner (I linked in a previous post) to get rid of all the Nvidia video drivers, then reinstall. Verify the TS2013 files again. If you still go to the paouse menue, then I'm afraid you may need to reinstall TS2013. Back up any third party mods you may have installed.

I tried the fan setting, and it did it again.

So i decided before throwing it all out the window, to totally start again, so i un-installed everything and took out the graphics card and new PSU.

had a coffee then put it all back in, loaded it all up again and BINGO, no problems since, played it for about 20 minutes, so its so far so good.

No idea why, maybe a cable wasn't all the way in or something stupid or the install.

Anyway, HOPEFULLY it will continue to work, so thanks everyone for all your help and ideas its very much appreciated.

Cheers

That's your solution right there.
I should have suggested that.
