Thanks, I did make sure I had deinstalled and reverted to basic VGA drivers before I installed the new drivers. had to download from NVIDIA site as those that came with the card were seriously outdated.
The only initial problem was that the default install turned off Vsync so some tearing occurred on the first test.
I have purchased FRAPS and will try and video a standard scenario from HSC called Summer observers (I think) and see how we go. Frame rates jumped from 20-25fps up to 70-90fps, but fiddling RW set them to a max of 60.
Not sure how I did that.
Certainly initial observations show Moire is less, stuttering is virtually gone and some shimmering of very fine details (Ladders, thin pipes etc. are still there but not quite as bad).
Lots of tuning to try yet.
Hope I can get FRAPS to work.

I have read, as far as FRAPS goes, "it crashes the sim", "it drags down frame rates" but I have never had a problem with it. I do have the paid version, not sure what difference that makes other than you can make longer-than-30-second videos. FRAPS will give you the true frame rate, whereas the built in RW frame counter lies at the low end. Known issue.

I have purchased FRAPS and here is a video (small format but shows the problem)
Look particularly at around 25 seconds and onward at the sand tower ladders and fine detail.

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

I am sure I can get it better, all settings are currently default both RW and NVidia.
