Pardon me . . . but you mean in TS in North American!! :)

British steam has been given a huge amount of love and attention, increasing even more with some retro routes, a lot of detailed models from the likes of Victory Works (Pete Gillam), also with major contributions from Steam Sounds Supreme and others in providing authentic sound packs and upgraded physics and control, etc.

Continuing the British theme but looking back to North America, don't lose sight of the variety of steam locos produced by Britkits (Dick Cowen - KCJones on this forum). including the unique Shays in both standard gauge and 3ft narrow gauge

What we REALLY need this side of the pond is some detailed attention to authentic sound and physics, which do seem to be lacking compared with the other side of the pond

Yes, and it sounds like a nice variety at that. :D

I am very glad to see some more North American steam area routes and locomotives becoming available now. Not to mention all the freeware repaints!

It should also be said that a big Thank You goes out to Rick Grout of G-Trax for making these locos in the first place. He's the one who brought SP&S 700, NKP 765, SP 4449 and the SP AC10-12 Cab Forward's to us and without them, we would not have the great repaints.

And if the stock physics are an issue for anyone, there is a nice physics upgrade for the SP&S 700 model from David Whiting (dtrainBNSF1) at http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... ccessories . (Make a backup before installing this though, just in case you don't like it.)

All we need now is the correct whistle for the ATSF Berkshire's and Northern's and we'll be set. :D

And of course, thank you to ET44C4 for making these great repaints as well as the ones he previously did for the Berkshire's. It was fun working with him during this project.

Thanks for pointing that out, I don't have those yet so I was not aware he did those as well.

I'm going to look into this and see what type of whistle's were used on these. Yours might be just what we need.

Thanks for the info guys!

Ok, according to a page I found on "The Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society" website located here, https://sfrhms.org/ and here, http://old.atsfrr.org/resources/Chamber ... istles.htm . It says that from 1910 until 1931 the ATSF used "the type LM-191 five chime for passenger applications and the LM-192 five chime for switcher and freight applications".

Then in 1931, "the six chime LM-540, was adopted. Like those standards before, the LM-540 was to be supplied by LFM and applied to all new classes, and retrofits. This included all locomotives built after 1931 with the exception of the MADAM QUEEN which may have been retrofitted with the first LM-540. Interestingly enough the LM-540 was applied to most if not all of the 4-6-2 3400 class rebuilds as well. The 3415, 3416, and 3423 are surviving examples. A few Prairie types also received six chime retrofits, notably the 1010."

The 6-chime LM-540 can be heard here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQTDLLW4WTQ on the ATSF 4-6-2 #3415.

Maybe, with all the repaints that have come out for ATSF locomotives recently, we can get one of our route creators to build us an appropriate route for them to run. For now, I'd just use a route that works best as a stand in. A backdated Cajon Pass to it's 1940's appearance would work as a freeware or donationware route. And with the new BLE route now out, assests from that route could be used to help do it.

Just an idea.
