Metrolink EMD F59PH Physics Mod Expansion (MP36PH-3C & F125 Physics)

Unread postby FanRailer » Wed Sep 24, 2014 7:51 pm

This is a major update to the original F59PH physics mod pack. This release adds the ability to swap out the updated EMD F59PH physics (0:00 and 18:32) with MPI MP36PH-3C physics (6:26 and 25:48) or EMD F125 Spirit physics (12:35 and 32:35). All three test runs seen in this video were done with an identical 7 car set of Bombardier BiLevel coaches and took place between Irvine and Tustin, beginning with a downhill run to Tustin and concluding after the uphill battle back to Irvine. You will notice the difference in speed between the locomotives, and thus, the benefit of having a higher horsepower locomotive.

This is the Metrolink EMD F59PH & Companion Bombardier BiLevel Cab Car Physics Modification pack Version 2.0.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "Los Angeles Commuter Rail F59PH" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/277747/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to adjust the locomotive weight, fuel capacity, motor amperage limits, and braking effort values for more realistic operation.

Parameter Change Log:
1. Lowered fuel tank capacity from 4,800 gallons to 1,500 gallons.
2. Increased locomotive weight to 271,165.8 lbs (123 metric tons) for better adhesion characteristics.
3. Maximum tractive amps is 1550; maximum braking amps is 700.
4. Adjusted tractive effort curve with 2700 wheel hp in mind; independent of HEP load.
5. Adjusted dynamic brake effort rating and curve for more realistic operation.
6. Lowered prime mover max RPM to 900 to fix engine sound issue when revving over 900 RPM.

This pack also includes the option to swap in physics of different locomotives into the F59PH body.
Additional locomotive physics included:
1. MPI MP36PH-3C
a. Starting tractive effort of 72,500 lbs (322.5 kN) up to 16.65 mph
b. Dynamic Brake effort of 32,742 lbs (145.64 kN) @ 55 mph
c. Wheel horsepower of 3,216 hp (2,400 kW); independent of HEP load
d. Increased weight of 131.1 metric tons (289,023.06 lbs)
e. Fuel tank capacity of 2,500 gallons
f. Amperage ratings remain the same as the F59PH
g. Maximum speed of 83 mph

2. EMD F125
a. Starting tractive effort of 71,040 lbs (316 kN) up to 18.66 mph
b. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,210 lbs (156.62 kN) from 50 mph down to 5 mph
c. Wheel horsepower of 3,531 hp (2,635 kW); assuming 550 kW HEP load
d. Increased weight of 128 metric tons (282,188.8 lbs)
e. Fuel tank capacity of 1,800 gallons
f. Max traction amps = 710.4 (71040 lbs)
g. Max braking amps = 352.1 (35210 lbs)
h. Maximum speed of 125 mph

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Locate F59PHPack01 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01)
2. Open DTG_Metrolink_EMD_F59PH_Physics_Mod_Pack.7z
3. Drag the file folder from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1.
4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.
5. If installation is botched or does not work, to back up to original files, delete the folder from step 3.

User's Manual:
Upon installation, the pack defaults to using the F59PH physics. In order to switch physics, follow the steps below:

1. Open the following three directories:
a. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Simulation"
b. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Engine"
c. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Passenger\Cars\Driving Trailer\Engine"
2. In each of those directories, you will see three folders (one for each set of locomotive physics):
a. "F59PH"
b. "F125"
c. "MP36PH-3C"
3. Once you choose which set of physics to use, open the respective physics folder in all three directories from step 1.
4. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1a.
5. Proceed back to directory 1a and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted.
6. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1b.
7. Proceed back to directory 1b and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted.
8. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1c.
9. Proceed back to directory 1c and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted.
10. If the previous 9 steps were completed properly, the physics swap should be successful; run TS2015 to check.

Thank you for downloading and installing.
Enjoy :)

The file should be life at the file library this Saturday (9/27). I will post the link when this occurs. Stay tuned !*salute*!
